What my dogs are eating today...

Fish oil! Goofy and Fred LOVE eating these caplets. They pop them open with their teeth to get at the oil.

Fish oil is great for dogs because it is anti-inflammatory, so if you have an allergic dog it's ideal. However, it's now recommend to help with all sorts of conditions, including cholesterol, kidney disease and arthritis. Omega-3's also support healthy skin, coat and eyes. I definitely noticed a difference in their coats after a month or so of feeding them fish oil. The coats were shinier, and they shed less.

Although you can feed your dog fish oil from pet supply places, I prefer to feed them the human version.

Best Dog Jacket...Ever

I just bought one of these for Fred. This small company in Canada makes amazing dog jackets for any breed, but they also make jackets for long and lean sighthounds.  A must for any short haired dog!

What my dogs are eating today...

Marrow bones! I bought two bags of marrow bones from a Korean butcher in Queens for $1.49 a pound, versus $3.00 a pound from American butchers. My dogs will chew on these raw bones for HOURS on end. The hold up to heavy chewing, and are a tasty, natural treat. They also are great for my dogs' dental health since it cleans teeth and massages gums. Don't feed a dog more than two marrow bones a week since they are high in fat and very rich.

What my dogs are eating today...

Kefir! Think of it as yogurt on steroids. It's probiotic, made from milk and is slightly effervescent. It has contains ten active "friendly" microorganisms, compared to two or three in yogurt. For people, it helps prevent common side effects from taking antibiotics, helps with lactose intolerance and weight loss. Plus, it's an excellent source of calcium, protein and fiber. What does it do for my dogs? Who knows. All I know is that they like it.
